If the eight-meter tall Christmas tree, LED light display and seasonal decorations in Leadenhall Market weren’t festive enough, the City of London’s Victorian market has announced a line-up of joyful pop-ups that are sure to make even the biggest of Scrooge’s in the mood for Christmas this year. Details of each event and how to get involved can be found below:
Bar Laurel, from La Viña
Monday 13 November – Friday 22 December
Monday – Saturday, 11am – 11pm
Spanish residents La Viña are recreating the electric vibrancy of Calle Laurel in the heart of Leadenhall Market this Christmas, with their ‘Bar Laurel’ pop-up. Using Calle Laurel, in the Rioja province of Spain as the inspiration behind their concept, Bar Laurel will bring the gastronomic essence of the region to Leadenhall Market for six weeks. Expect tapas, pinchos and ‘raciones’ accompanied with delicious riojas and cervezas for an unforgettable and slightly different dining experience this festive season.
Alpine Lodge, a collaboration with One Circle
Monday – Saturday, 11am – 11pm until the 22nd December
Leadenhall has collaborated with One Circle this Christmas, to bring the market its very own Alpine themed bar. Expect all your favourite winter warmers, from Mulled Wine to Hot Buttered Rum to Toffee Mulled Cider or Marshmallow Hot Chocolate. Seasonal festive treats will also be available, including gingerbread men and mince pies.
Pollocks Toy Museum
Opening late November
Just in time for Christmas, the famous Pollock’s Toy Museum has found a new temporary home at Leadenhall, showcasing some of its magical collection of antique puppets and toy theatres along with a range of heritage advent calendars, theatres and stocking filler toys for sale in this pop-up gift shop.*
*Benjamin Pollock’s Toyshop, based in Covent Garden, is run by Louise Heard and is a separate enterprise from the Pollock’s Toy Museum. The two are linked by a shared name, history, and love of toy theatre and toys.
The Lamb Tavern’s Christmas Party
Tuesday 12 December, 4pm – 11pm
Join Leadenhall Market’s 18th century pub for its annual Christmas Party. This event is for parties of all sizes and those joining can expect a wandering brass band, mulled wine, turkey scotch eggs, friends and many beers! No need to book – just turn up and get involved!
